Critically acclaimed stand-up comics Nile Séguin (Halifax Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs Festival, Match Game) and Rebecca Kohler (Comedy Now, Just For Laughs) will each be recording full headlining sets at The LOT Stand-Up Comedy Club tonight, May 23. This promises to be a wickedly funny as well as a funnily (is that a word?) wicked show.

In the past year Rebecca Kohler has taken her comedy to another level with a breakout set at the prestigious Just for Laughs Festival which led to her signing with the high profile Gersh Agency before the audience had even finished applauding.

It has also been a great year for Nile Séguin who opened the bilingual comedy show You're Gonna Rire featuring Sugar Sammy, which ran for 50 sold out nights in a 1,300 seat theatre in Montréal. He also just wrote, directed, produced and starred in his first short film.

Rebecca Kohler and Nile Séguin's DVD Taping will take place at The LOT Stand-Up Comedy Club (Lower Ossington Theatre) 100 Ossington Avenue on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 8pm. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/373207.

BIOGRAPHIES:

Rebecca: With the face of an angel and a tongue as sharp as a Mach-17 razor, Rebecca Kohler is full of surprises. Life is hard, sometimes tragic, and Rebecca is no stranger to these realities; in fact she uses life's hardships and truths to create well-crafted joke-story-type-things. Rebecca brings an edgy insight to the stage and asks you to remember that she is not offensive, but that life itself is offensive.

Credits include: Just For Laughs Festival, Hubcap Comedy Festival, having opened for Norm MacDonald as well as Dana Carvey, Winnipeg Comedy Fest, Halifax Comedy Fest, CTV's Comedy Now, The Sudbury Comedy Festival, The Newfoundland Screech Comedy Festival, Los Angeles Comedy Festival, Mark Breslin's Yuk Yuks across Canada as well as appearances on CBC's The Debaters (Radio/TV), The L.A. Complex, Hotbox and The Jon Dore Television Show, Video On Trial and XM Radio's Laugh Attack. Writer on The Ron James Show, Scaredy Squirrel and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Nile: 2012 was a pretty great year for Nile. He spent most of the year performing with Sugar Sammy as part of the first bilingual comedy stand up show You?re Gonna Rire (over 50 performances in Montréal alone) and that year was the first comic to perform at both the Festival Juste Pour Rire and it?s English counterpart Just For Laughs in the same year.

This year has started out no differently with Nile performing at the Port Credit Comedy Festival as well as writing, starring in, producing and directing his first short film "Third Date".

Besides performing to critical acclaim, Nile recently completed the Triple Crown of Canadian Comedy Festivals going to the Just for Laughs Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax Comedy Festival in a single year. He also was a part of the Sudbury Comedy Festival and the Cottage Country Comedy Festival. Nile has performed at the Boston Comedy Festival, has twice been nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award and recently taped his first television special.

A perfect blend of serious and silly, Nile's comedy has been compared to a very strong and delicious Appletini or a slap from a velvet glove (if you're into that kind of thing).
