STREETWRITE is a new movie-musical about freedom of speech.

The movie explores the theme of the right to free speech and the fight for that right. Argued out in a courtroom sequence the movie is also littered with graffiti, public murals, commercial billboards and hallway posters as weapons used for the expression of freedom.

Rafaela Raposo one of the key cast members of STREETWRITE talks about her experience on set and as a part of this stellar international cast.

Q: As a part of the cast of STREETWRITE directed by Blanche Baker you were actively involved in the creative process, what was this experience like for you?

A: I feel so lucky to have been in Streetwrite! In the beginning, Blanche wanted to make sure we were all part of the creative process, so we talked about what was important for us and what we thought was essential for the movie. After that we had readings so they could finalize the script and we had numerous rehearsal days.

Q: Dance also featured prominently in the movie, as a dancer this opened up more opportunities for you, I'm sure, can you elaborate on that?

A: Since it's a musical, there were quite a few dance numbers. The featured style of dance was hip hop to represent the streets and I was lucky enough to be chosen to be the dance captain.

Q: What was it like working alongside prolific choreographers for this project?

A: The choreographers Matt LOPEZ and Melissa Ramos are amazing professionals and working with them and my co-actors was an extremely humbling experience.

Q: How would you describe the cast and creative team of STREETWRITE?

A: They're all such talented, kind and funny people and I had the time of my life working with them.
