Radio Stations Raise Over $500,000 for HUNGERTHON

On Nov. 21-24, radio stations banded together to raise funds and awareness for WHY (World Hunger Year) during its annual Hungerthon. As of Nov. 25, $535,198 was raised to help WHY fight hunger and poverty in the U.S. at a time when hunger is dramatically on the rise.

Listeners made donations and bid on auction items while learning how they can join the cause. Donations can still be made online at www.hungerthon.org. Donors can receive limited edition 2009 WHY- Hard Rock International John Lennon themed "Imagine There's No Hunger" pins, T-shirts or sweatshirts; and the all-star Serve 4 benefit CD, which features tracks by John Lennon, O.A.R., Elvis Costello, Eric Hutchinson, Brett Dennen and more.

Hungerthon was supported by the New York tri-state area radio stations WCBS Newsradio 880, 1010 WINS Radio, Sports Radio 66 WFAN, 101.1 WCBS FM, 102.7 FRESH-FM, 92.3 NOW FM.,101.9 WRXP, HOT 97, 98.7 Kiss FM, Q104.3 FM, 101.9 WRXP, 95.5 WPLJ FM, 77 WABC Talk Radio and Sirius XM Satellite Radio. AOL Radio and internet only stations Kweevak.com and RocklandWorldRadio.com also joined the effort.
