MSG Entertainment (MSGE) announced today the official kickoff to the holiday season as the world-famous Radio City Rockettes celebrate "Christmas in August" in an all new event location, Times Square. On Thursday, August 11 at 11am audiences will be treated to a selection of new Rockette elements including brand new show-stopping Rockette choreography, new music and a glamorous new Rockette costume all in celebration of the 2011 Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The 2011 show will take America's #1 holiday production to new heights with a twist.

To kick off the event, Santa Claus, played by Charles Edward Hall, will make his yearly visit to NYC from the North Pole bringing a little arctic chill to the air and prove that Santa can be in multiple places at once through a surprise Times Square takeover. The Rockettes will arrive in true New York City style aboard a double decker Gray Line bus, as featured in the fan favorite scene "New York at Christmas." As The Rockettes disembark the double decker bus, they will take the stage right in the heart of the "crossroads of the world" and officially ‘kick' off the 2011 Christmas Spectacular, presented by Chase. In a Times Square "takeover," surrounding digital outdoor boards will be activated unveiling new Christmas Spectacular imagery creating a whimsical winter wonderland in the midst of the heat of August. Audiences will have the opportunity to become a part of the holiday festivities in a way that only Radio City can deliver through interactive on-site activities highlighting the new production elements.

Additionally, in celebration of "Christmas in August," Christmas Spectacular Facebook fans will receive the first gift of the season with an online sweepstakes, "I like Christmas." 2,011 Facebook entries or "likes" will unlock $2,011 in Christmas cash for one Spectacular fan and secondary prizes will be awarded. The campaign will begin August 11 and continue through August 31 encouraging Facebook fans to show how much they "Like Christmas" and help kick off the season of giving.

The 2011 production of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, starring the world-famous Radio City Rockettes, will be the most dynamic production to grace the Great Stage in the show's 79-year history. America's favorite holiday show is about to re-define Spectacular featuring a new 3DLive video game adventure, new Rockette performances, new musical compositions and heartwarming songs, dazzling new costumes and state-of-the-art technology alongside cherished numbers that have been featured in the show since 1933. Using cutting edge technology, audiences will be part of an immersive holiday experience, as scenery extends beyond the stage transforming the interior of Radio City into a magical canvas. The 2011 Radio City Christmas Spectacular will captivate audiences with the new state-of-the-art technology enhancements while still honoring the traditions steeped in the show.
