Rachel York will replace Sherie Rene Scott as the sweetly conniving Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on February 5th, 2006.

The star is currently in rehearsals for the show with Jonathan Pryce, who will succeed John Lithgow as sophisticated con man Lawrence Jamison on February 17th. Filling in for Scott, who will be performing in The Landscape of the Body at Signature Theatre Company, York will play the soap heiress through early summer. Scott returns to the musical on June 20th.

The versatile York, who most recently appeared in Dessa Rose at Lincoln Center, won a Drama Desk Award for her performance in Victor/Victoria. She also received Drama Desk nominations for her work in Dessa Rose and the off-Broadway Sondheim revue Putting It Together. York's other Broadway credits include Sly Fox, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Les Miserables and City of Angels, her Broadway debut. She also starred in Kiss Me, Kate in London and in the national tour of the revival, as well as earning raves for her work in the recent Paper Mill Playhouse production of Ragtime. York, who recently released her debut solo album Let's Fall in Love, has appeared on film in One Fine Day, Billy Bathgate, Killer Instinct and as Lucille Ball in the CBS TV movie "Lucy."

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which follows the hijinx of two crooks on the French Riviera, features a book by Jeffrey Lane to David Yazbek's (The Full Monty) music and lyrics. Directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, the show is currently a hit at Broadway's Imperial Theatre, where it opened on March 3rd. In addition to Norbert Leo Butz' win for Best Actor in a Musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was nominated for 10 Tonys, including Best Musical. The show also stars Sara Gettelfinger, Joanna Gleason and Gregory Jbara.
