Broadway's Rachel Potter is returning to the New York stage once more, this time with two Southern gents in tow. Following her standout performances as Wednesday Addams in "The Addams Family" (with Brooke Shields and Roger Rees), The Mistress in "Evita" (with Ricky Martin and Michael Cerveris), and the Glinda cover in the second national tour of Stephen Schwartz's "Wicked," Potter went on to win the hearts of audiences worldwide as a Top 12 Finalist on hit reality series, The X Factor. Following the X Factor, Rachel released her first full length album, Not So Black And White, which marked the debut of Rachel's country artist career in America's favorite Music City, Nashville, TN. Standout singles "Tail Lights" and "Jesus and Jezebel" received media buzz from hit country TV station CMT, and nods from Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, and Billboard, all praising her powerhouse vocals, newsworthy video content and contemporary lyrics.
The next chapter of this remarkable performer's journey introduces a few new characters, when a chance encounter at a Nashville music venue connects Rachel with Donny Fallgatter and world-renowned dobro player Josh Matheny. Those three artists, each impressive in their own rights, are now known collectively as the country Americana band, Steel Union. The trifecta of Potter's powerhouse vocals melting into Matheny's gentle twang and Fallgatter's rich tone serve up the perfect recipe for sweet success. Steel Union garnered attention from the prestigious NASH FM station, earning them a spot as finalists in the Nash Next's Country Superstar Competition. Other notable moments include a performance during Nashville's CMA Week festivities and playing the opening slot for Blues Traveler in Chattanooga, TN.
Now gearing up for a string of national tour dates, Steel Union is set to serenade fans at New York's favorite music hotspot, Rockwood Music Hall, 196 Allen St, New York, NY 10002. Slotted for the 6pm slot on Monday, February 22, at Rockwood Stage 2, Rachel Potter, Josh Matheny and Donny Fallgatter will kick off an evening of music with some whiskey drinkin', boot stampin', tambourine shakin' Southern fun.
