Rust on Bone by Bianca Sams (Training Day, Simply Bess) will receive an industry reading directed by Zhailon Levingston (Primer for a Failed Superpower) on Monday, January 29, at 7:30pm at Pearl Studios (500 8th Ave), Penthouse 1. This is the inaugural presentation of Front Porch Readings, a once-monthly series whose mission is to celebrate writers of diverse stories and worldviews while directly connecting playwrights and directors to publishers and producers. Cast members will be announced shortly.
Rust on Bone takes a close look at the personal cost of war and the societal stigmas of therapy from the perspective of a VA psychologist. Sams's investigative journalism approach mixes research with her own brand of lyricism and poetic language. Admission is strictly limited; request 1 or 2 complimentary seats by emailing frontporchreadings@gmail.com. Please include any union or professional affiliations.
Front Porch Readings has an open submission policy for plays that have not yet received a full production. Please submit with a cover letter to frontporchreadings@gmail.com for consideration by FPR readers and directors. FPR is produced by Ryan McCurdy with Associate Producer Emily Mwakitawa.
