RON LEVY, PIANO, AND FRIENDS Set for Carnegie Hall, 11/29

It is with great pleasure that pianist Ron Levy announces an upcoming gala celebration, Ron Levy, Piano, and Friends, at New York's Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, November 29th at 8 PM. This event celebrates, and is in appreciation of, living composers; the program consists of sixteen pieces of music written expressly for Mr. Levy and his colleagues [the majority will be World or New York premiere performances].

The composers represented include Nancy Bloomer Deussen, Eric Ewazen, Patrick Finley, David Gilbert, James Grant, Ben Hackett, Sunbin Kim, John Lampkin, Dennis Leogrande, Fred Messner, Michael Parsons, David Sampson, Godfrey Schroth, Jeff Scott, Paul Mack Somers, and Joseph Turrin. The performers joining Mr. Levy will be E. Scott Brubaker, horn; Theron Cromer, tenor; his granddaughter Madelyne, piano; The Orpheus Club Men's Chorus, and the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Palisades Virtuosi (Margaret Swinchoski, flute/Donald Mokrynski, clarinet/ & Ron Levy, piano).

Ron Levy, internationally acclaimed pianist, has been called "first-class" by the New York Times. He regularly appears in major venues, both as a soloist, and in partnership with many of the world's leading singers and instrumentalists. A graduate of Oberlin, Mr. Levy has been pianist and harpsichordist of the Oberlin Orchestra, the Westchester Symphony, and the Albany Symphony, among others. Presently, he is Associate Artist with the All Seasons Chamber Players, and is the pianist of the Orpheus Men's Chorus. For over 20 years, Mr. Levy was associated with the Manchester (VT) Music Festival, of which he was faculty and Board Member. While living in Vermont, he was Music Director & Conductor of the Opera Theatre in Weston, and impresario of the "Third Saturday" chamber music series at the historic Equinox Hotel, as well as the "Music on the Hill" music series at the Southern Vermont Arts Center. Mr. Levy has taught at numerous colleges, and is currently an instructor at Montclair State University and the Ridgewood Conservatory; he maintains an active and on-going affiliation with the Manhattan School of Music, Julliard, and NJ PAC. A two-term President of the Professional Music Teachers Guild of NJ, he is a contributing editor to BIM Music Publications, Switzerland. In the Spring of 2011 Mr. Levy made his debut at the Academy of the Arts and the University in Oahu, Hawaii. Recordings by Mr. Levy are available on the Albany, Centaur, Eroica, Koch International, MMF and High Point labels.

The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski, clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3) organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute, clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists.
