TWISTED SISTER (minus vocalist Dee Snider), STRYPER and COLLECTIVE SOUL will perform at New York Stock Exchange's 86th Christmas tree lighting beneath the NYSE façade (Broad Street between Wall Street and Exchange Place) in New York City on Thursday, December 10, 2009 between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The event is open to the public.
The NYSE's tree lighting, a custom since 1923, is believed to be the city's oldest.
Headliners TWISTED SISTER will perform with Constantine Maroulis, Kerry Butler and James Carpinello from the cast of the Tony-nominated smash hit musical comedy "Rock of Ages". Dee Snider is NOT performing - he has prior commitment and the band decided to do this with their "Rock of Ages" buddies.
Each group is going to perform two holiday songs and one song of theirs AND in the spirit of this event, all groups are also offering a free download from Thursday, December 3 through December 13 on their respective web sites.
This year's tree is a 65-foot high, 34-foot wide Norway Spruce from New York City, New York. Situated in front of the NYSE façade, the tree is decorated with 10,000 lights in assorted colors at seven watts per bulb, 250 multi-colored balls with the NYSE Euronext logo and a six-foot star on top, all supported on a 8 x 10' base fashioned as a gift box.
STRYPER's first concept video since 1991, "Alive", from their "Murder By Pride" CD, will premier December 14. The clip was was shot in Dallas, Texas with director Michael Sarna (MEGADETH, ORGY, ANTHRAX, FEAR FACTORY, CANDLEBOX).
"Rock Of Ages" is a hilarious, feel-good love story told through the hit songs of iconic rockers JOURNEY, STYX, REO SPEEDWAGON, TWISTED SISTER, FOREIGNER, PAT BENATAR, WHITESNAKE, and many more. Written by Chris D'Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine, the show stars Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis, Tony nominee Kerry Butler and James Carpinello. The five-time Tony Award-nominated show is currently playing at The Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway.
