Fueling the already-started rumors, the 2010 Off-Broadway musicals BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON and THE KID may receive commercial productions, the New York Times has reported.

BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, which is currently playing at The Public Theater, may transfer to Broadway for the 2010-2011 season.  Two producers told the Times that based on the musical's high attendance and unique aspects, the executives at the Public believe that BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON could find a place on Broadway.  Candi Adams, a spokeswoman for the Public, simply said, "the Public is exploring all our options for the future life of the show,"  as the Times quotes.

BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON opened on April 6, 2010 and has received three extensions; it is to close on June 27.  Written by Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman, it is a rock musical about Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States.

Another show whose sights may be looking up is The Kid. Producers Dodger Theatricals, Dede Harris, Carole Shorenstein Hays, Howard Panter, and Aubrey Dan have formed a relationship with THE KID's creative team, according to the Times report.  They write that Dodger Theatricals partner Michael David has stated that the producers "are now officially and enthusiastically on board," although there are as yet no concrete plans regarding THE KID's future.

THE KID was produced Off-Broadway by The New Group and ran from April 16 to May 29, 2010.  It is based on sex columnist Dan Savage's memoir about starting a family with his boyfriend.
