RHYTHM IN MOTION Returns to NYC, 3/29

RHYTHM IN MOTION, the American Tap Dance Foundation's yearly performance showcase, returns to New York City March 29 through April 2 with new, groundbreaking tap dance choreography in two different programs at The Duke on 42nd Street. Program below.

In six performances over five days, top tap talent and emerging choreographers will offer a window into the forward thinking, innovative choreography driving the art form today. Directed and curated by American Tap Dance Foundation Artistic/Executive Director Tony Waag, Rhythm in Motion reveals the evolution of tap dance and the future of the medium.

"Once again, I'm very excited and proud to present a treasure trove of different voices that are working in the field today," said Mr. Waag, recipient of the Dance Magazine Award for contributions to the art form. "The audience will see, and hear, everything from refined classical jazz-driven material to fresh, raw, experimental pieces that are very provocative. I think the world has finally realized that tap dance and tap choreography can also test the audience, tell a story, be influenced by world issues and express anger, fear, sadness and spirituality.

"There is so much new work being created right now that needs to be seen and shared with audiences. I only wish we had a dedicated Tap Dance Theater space where we could present new choreography, new ideas, new concepts year round," he said.

Rhythm in Motion is a theatrical platform enabling the art form to present, move forward and grow. The American Tap Dance Foundation has been lauded for preserving the history of tap dance, as well as inspiring its evolution. RHYTHM IN MOTION 2017 PROMO VIDEO.

ABOUT THE AMERICAN TAP DANCE FOUNDATION
