To celebrate Three Kings Day, a holiday bigger than Christmas in the many parts of the world, R.Evolución Latina is gifting literature and theatre. Three Kings Day, which is celebrated on January 6th of every year, is the most anticipated holiday of the season for children in Latin America. This day that is full of traditions celebrates the day the three kings arrived in Bethlehem with gifts.
On Sunday, December 3rd, R.Evolución Latina brought tradition to the streets of Queens, NY with a parranda that led to Centro Cultural Barco, De Papel where children learned the rhythms of plena and traditional songs with Dr. Drum from BombaYo and received a book as their gift.
On Wednesday, January 6th, RL will collaborate with Teatro S.E.A (Society of Educational Arts) where thousands of children from the community will meet the 3 kings and receive a gift. We will be there to give more of the books that we bought from local bookstores such as Barco de Papel and La Casa Azul Bookstore.
To conclude the festivities the cast of On Your Feet!, The Story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan will join in the celebration with 25 kids from RL's summer camp who will receive the gift of theatre with tickets to On Your Feet! and a talkback. Prior to the performance on Wednesday, the children will have the opportunity to meet cast members, dance and have a pizza party together.
