R.Evolucion Latina 'Makes Its Move' to Support the Caribbean & Mexico with 2017 Dance-A-Thon

R.Evolución Latina's 5th Annual Dance-A-Thon, will take place on Saturday, October 21st at the Taj Lounge in NYC.

In our 10th year of providing free programing to the NYC community and artists in Latin America this fundraising event continues to be key. This year, in light of the recent devastations caused by earthquakes in Mexico and hurricanes in the Caribbean R.Evolución Latina is allocating a third of the proceeds raised to help these affected areas.

The artistic community has answered this call to action by joining the fundraising efforts. Cast members from Broadway's Miss Saigon and Evita at North Shore Music Theatre have stepped up by sharing and creating ways to donate by teaching "make your donation" classes, running workshops and are even having a dance party to raise money for R.Evolución Latina.

The Dance-A-Thon is for all ages, registered participants commit to dance for Five hours after 6 weeks of fundraising. Some of Broadway's finest including seasoned Broadway Choreographer Sergio Trujillo, Marcos Santana (Assoc. Choreographer, On Your Feet) Nova Begeron-Santana (Wicked) Jose-Luis Lopez (On Your Feet) Doreen Montalvo (On Your Feet) Genny Padilla (On Your Feet), Ektor Rivera (On Your Feet) are joining our fundraising efforts. One special young member of the Broadway community Hudson Flynn, whose parents are Andrea Burns and Peter Flynn, has used his passion for making music and films by shooting, directing editing and rapping in a series of short videos sharing RL's mission and inviting individuals to donate. This year participants will be "Making their Move" on and off the dance floor with dance with performers Roddy Kennedy (Hamilton), Dionne Figgins (Motown, Broadway Serves), Myriam Gadri (The Hiphop Nutcracker), Ehizoje Azeke (The Get Down, Beyonce), Joomin Hwang (K-Pop), Greer Gisy (Evita), and more.

RL founder and the event's Master of Ceremonies, Luis Salgado will keep everyone moving as DJ Franklyn Ayala keeps the beats flowing. Special Guest judges include Tony Chiroldes, Lee Zarrett and Talia Castro-Pozo.

The Dance-A-Thon began in 2013 with the goal of bringing in funding to support the organization's mission and to create an event for the community. Through the past 4 years the Dance-A-Thon has raised over $100,000 for the organization this year with a greater need to help and expand beyond NYC the goal this year has been increased to $75,000.

All are welcome to attend and hit the dance floor or to cheer on the participants as they Make Their Move to create change. $25 donation at door to enter.
