Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne both created their roles in the world premiere production of RED at the Donmar. The production is directed by Donmar artistic director Michael Grandage. RED marks playwright Logan's Broadway debut.
RED has been nominated for Seven Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Actor in a Play, Best Featured Actor in a Play, Best Director of a Play, Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design.
John Logan's play has also been named Best Play by the Drama Desk, Outer Critic Circle, and Drama League. Alfred Molina was recognized with the Distinguished Performance Drama League Award. Eddie Redmayne also won the 2010 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance. Director Michael Grandage was awarded with the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Direction of a Play.RED opened December 8, 2009 at the Donmar. The production was nominated for three 2010 Olivier Awards, including Best Play, with Eddie Redmayne winning the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
The production is designed by Christopher Oram, with lighting design by Neil Austin. Composer and sound designer is Adam Cork.
