RBTL Summer Stars Alumni To Perform At BROADWAY SESSIONS

Two of the Rochester Broadway Theatre League's (RBTL's) local arts education program students, Avery Carlson of Williamson and Jack D'Angelo of Warsaw, have been selected to perform in Ben Cameron's 'Broadway Sessions' tonight, February 22, in New York City. Broadway Sessions is NYC's Ultimate Post-Theatre Extravaganza. Every Thursday night, host Ben Cameron (Broadway veteran and RBTL Summer Stars Broadway Camp instructor) welcomes a New Group of Broadway stars to perform, interact with the crowd and bare their souls in this zany musical theatre variety show at the world famous Laurie Beechman Theatre on 42nd and 9th. In addition, Cameron selects rising stars from around the country to be featured each week. Carlson and D'Angelo will be performing alongside cast members from JERSEY BOYS on Broadway, showcasing their musical theater talent.

Avery and Jack are both RBTL Stars of Tomorrow and Summer Stars alumni. Each was recognized for their leading role in their high school musicals in 2017 and moved on to compete in Stars of Tomorrow NYC Bound NHSMTA local competition at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre. From that competition, D'Angelo was chosen to represent Rochester, NY at the national Jimmy Awards in NYC last June. Each has participated in Summer Stars for several years, learning from the best in the business.

Ben Cameron is a sought after writer, performer, teacher and host in NYC. (Broadway Credits: AIDA, WICKED and FOOTLOOSE. Summer Stars, is a three-week intensive Broadway summer day-camp for students grade 5-12, held on stage at the Auditorium Theatre. The camp is taught by Broadway professionals from New York City and is designed for campers to develop their talents and have the opportunity to grow, to learn and to explore new ideas. The camp focuses on providing quality experiences that enrich and inspire students in areas of acting, dancing, culminating in a gala showcase performance.
