Quincy Dunn Baker joins the cast of Kenny Finkle's ALIVE AND WELL at Canal Park Playhouse's monthly BACK ROOM READING SERIES. Directed by Samuel Buggeln, the reading of ALIVE AND WELL takes place on Wednesday, May 16 at 7 PM at Canal Park Playhouse (508 Canal Street, between Greenwich and West Streets in Tribeca). Quincy Dunn Baker (Trust and Wildflower at Second Stage; Romeo & Juliet at The Public) joins the previously announced Anna Foss Wilson (upcoming Black Milk at CSC).

New York City reporter Carla Keenan hires Zachariah Clemenson IV, a part time cab driver and full time Civil War re-enactor, to guide her through the backwoods of Virginia--where many locals claim the ghost of a Confederate Soldier is lurking.  The two don't get along, then they get lost.  But they soon discover that in order to survive, they must surrender to each other the secrets they are holding closest to themselves.  A romantic comedy.

THE BACK ROOM READING SERIES, curated by playwrights Joe Roland (On the Line) and Emily DeVoti (Milk), was created as a way of expanding the downtown theater community. Audience members are encouraged to stay and have a drink and discuss the plays in the Front Room after the readings.

Kenny Finkle's (playwright) play Alive and Well received its world premiere at Virginia Stage Company and at The Old Globe in San Diego in 2010.  Also in 2010, his new play Penelope of Ithaca premiered at the Hangar Theatre (original play commission).  His play Indoor/Outdoor received its off-Broadway premiere at the DR2 in Union Square (directed by Daniel Goldstein), 2006, and has also been produced at Trinity Repertory, the Colony Theatre, The Summer Play Festival, Virginia Stage Company, Portland Stage, Water Tower, the Hangar Theatre (world premiere, directed by Kevin Moriarty), among others. Indoor/Outdoor is published both by Broadway Play Publishing and in Smith and Kraus' Best Plays of 2006 anthology. His other plays have been produced at the Flea Theater, Operating Theatre, Zephyr Theater (LA), and NY Fringe Festival and work-shopped and developed at such places as: The Atlantic Theatre Company, Perry Mansfield, Second Stage, Williamstown Theatre Festival, HotINK and Portland Stage. Kenny is a graduate of Columbia University's MFA Playwriting program, a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and a proud member of the Good Writer's Group.
