Quick Silver Theater Company Presents its Citizen One Reading Series

Quick Silver Theater Company (QSTC) will present staged readings of new works by emerging playwrights of color. QSTC's Playwrights of Color Summit is a week-long residency that allows previously unproduced playwrights an opportunity to work exclusively on their plays. These plays were submitted to QSTC as part of our POC Summit's call for new works, and will be presented as part of our Citizen One Reading Series.

Reading Dates: Friday-November 16th through Monday-November 19th, 2018

Each staged reading will be followed by a talk-back or QST Conversation.

Short Rib on Friday afternoon. November 16th 2018 at 11 am

Short Rib is a subversion of the Christian creation myth, also partially inspired by the oeuvre of Anton Chekhov. Kane and Able Ramsey, brothers and roommates born into wealth, have been burdened with the largest workload of their lives: the daily care of their older brother Seth, who has come down with a serious, unidentifiable disease. As Seth's fortieth and potentially final birthday approaches, Kane and Able are surprised to learn that their mother is as eager to change the status quo as they are.

My Father's Keeper is about family and the secrets we keep to protect our loved ones. Tirsio Armando Gonzalez and his wife Juana are the pillars of their community in the Dominican Republic and in their new home in Chicago, but Tirsio's sudden death causes family secrets to come to light. Dealing with their father's truth and double life, Mondo and Sofi?a must learn to lean on each other like never before while figuring out how to best honor their father. The Gonzalez family must define what secrets are worth keeping and which ones aren't worth the trouble.
