Simon Hammerstein and Randy Weiner (founding partners of famed downtown hotspot The Box) announced today that self-proclaimed "Queen of All Media" and frequent theater blogger Perez Hilton will make a special trip to New York City to host CBS Radio New York's exclusive, by-invitation-only preview party at the upcoming Halloween-themed nightclub, Purgatorio, to kick-off the 2009 Halloween season. The event will take place on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 PM at Purgatorio's tri-level space in the heart of Times Square (268 W. 47th Street). The earlier timeslots on Saturday, October 17 (7:00 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM) are still available for general sale and will not be affected by this private event.
Purgatorio, a fantasyland especially for Halloween season, is where nightmare meets nightlife. Combining the energy and glamour of a world-class nightclub with the spectacle and illusion of the theater, Purgatorio will offer an interactive Halloween experience unlike anything seen before in New York nightlife. Adults 21 and over will be immersed in a multi-level world of macabre fantasy complete with interactive variety acts and installations, all set in a dynamic environment that is at once frightening, erotic and whimsical. Purgatorio will take over the tri-level, 15,000 square foot nightclub space at 268 W. 47th Street from October 15 through October 31 only.
Produced by Simon Hammerstein and Randy Weiner, Purgatorio features production/scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Evan Morris and is being presented by CBS Radio's New York stations.
Regular tickets for Purgatorio range from $39.99 to $59.99. VIP tickets range from $59.99 to $79.99 and include two complimentary beverages and preferred access. Tickets can be purchased at http://enterpurgatorio.com or by phone at (212) 352-3101 from New York City or (866) 871-4111 from outside New York City.
Cubano and Miami Native Perez Hilton is the Internet's most notorious gossip columnist. The LA Times calls Perez, "like US Weekly, the Star, the Enquirer and Life & Style all rolled into one sweet yet snarky, sagacious yet salacious gay man." Perez was named the #1 Web celebrity for 2007 by Forbes Magazine and as one of the 15 most influential Hispanics in the US by People in Espanol. Since launching in 2004, PerezHilton.com has become one of the leading go-to sites for celebrity news. In February 2008, eMarketer identified perezhilton.com as one of the top 5 websites for college aged women, beating out MySpace! The UK's prestigious Observer newspaper named perezhilton.com (#6) one of the 50 most powerful blogs. In May 2008, Perez kicked off a daily nationally syndicated radio show in 7 of the top 10 markets in North America. Perez has also become a celebrity in his own right. In 2007 he premiered his own show, "What Perez Sez" on VH1. He has appeared on television (ABC, CNN, "E! News," "Dateline, NBC," MTV, Vh1, and Much Music); and has been featured in the L.A. Times, The Wall Street Journal, Paper Magazine, CBS News, Us Weekly, InTouch Weekly and many more. Recently Master P. launched his mobile website at m.perezhilton.com, now his gossip gangsters can be updated anywhere they go.
