QT to Premiere New Musical THE QUEEN BEES

Queens Theatre (QT) has announced its World Premiere production of Rob Urbinati's THE QUEEN BEES, a new musical directed by Jose Zayas. THE QUEEN BEES will play a two week limited engagement at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park). Performances begin Friday, May8and continue through Sunday, May17.Performances areFridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, Sundays at 3pm, with an additional matinee on Friday, May 15 at 2pm. Tickets are available at www.queenstheatre.org and range from $25-$42.

Three high school girls from a tough neighborhood in Queens are determined to make it to the top. With a little grit and a lot of talent, the teens become overnight sensations - and discover that they want very different things from life. Smart and sassy, THE QUEENS BEES overflows with hit songs of the sixties including "Leader of the Pack" and "Twist and Shout."

"THE QUEENS BEES is a realistic portrait of three girls coming of age in the sixties and it also gives the audience a chance to experience the joy of popular music. The cast is just sensational, and I can't wait for it to open." said Taryn Sacramone, Managing Director of Queens Theatre.

The production stars Nicole Colón* (Nat'l Tour: Legally Blonde: The Musical, Fiddler on the Roof) as Brenda, and Mary Beth Donahoe as Diane, and Bailey Frankenberg (QT's The Cottage) as Connie.

Scenic Design is by Michael P. Kramer,Costume design by Sharon Sobel and Lighting Design by Steve Wolf, Sound Design by DavidMargolin Lawson. Props Design by Jess Jalal. Deidre Works* is the Production Stage Manager. Publicity is by Katie Rosin/Kampfire PR, Casting Director is Tom Rowan.

THE QUEEN BEES opens on Friday, May 8, and performances continue through Sunday, May17 on the following schedule:

Fridays at 8 p.m.
Saturdays at 2 p.m. & 8 p.m.

Sundays at 3 p.m.

An additional matinee will be presented Friday, May 8 at 2p.m.

Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the Queens Theatre Box Office, Tuesday through Friday 12pm to 6pm, and two hours before showtimes on weekends.
