Purple Rep Presents HAPPY NAKED FUNTIME: A BURLESQUE EXTRAVAGANZA, 3/19

This Saturday, March 19, Purple Rep will present Happy Naked Funtime: A Burlesque Extravaganza, an event to benefit their upcoming project, Gay Plays for Straight People (and also gay people) which will feature the revival of Mariah MacCarthy's The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret running in rep with the world premiere of Larry Kunofsky's The Un-Marrying Project, May 8-30 at The Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street between 2nd Ave and Bowery).

Happy Naked Funtime will feature performances by Glenn Marla (MISS LES 2006, reigning Mr. Coney Island), Busty Kitten (The Giddy Multitude), Andy Whorehol (That Drag Show, Essensuality), Lauren Hennessy (Keith and the Girl, SEXed Up Stories), Ben Lerman (The Frank DeCaro Show, Keith and the Girl), Captain Sharky's Historical Gender Equity Reactualization Burlesque Society, Justina Flash (Friends of Dorothy, The Gyronauts), Jessica Delfino (Stoned Spelling Bee champion, ECNY "Best Musical Act"), Hazel Honeysuckle (The Rhinestone Follies, "Dirty Doll of the Month" at Dirty Doll Lingerie), Miss Sweet Tea (Burlesque debut), and Madame Rosebud (The Peach Tartes), with your host, drag sensation, Miranda Rose!

Gay Plays for Straight People (and also gay people) is the inaugural project from Purple Rep, a New Theatre Company founded by playwrights Larry Kunofsky (What To Do When You Hate All Your Friends at Theater Row; A Guy Adrift in the Universe) and Mariah MacCarthy (Ampersand: A Romeo & Juliet Story with Looking Glass Theatre; The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret at UNDER St. Marks). The project will feature the world premiere of Kunofsky's play, The Un-Marrying Project and the revival of Ms. MacCarthy's play The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret (sold-out run at UNDER St. Marks in 2010), both of which deal with issues of gender identity and sexual equality.
