Project1VOICE is an internationally recognized 501(c)(3) performing arts service organization committed to presenting programs and initiatives that promote and support the American theater, specifically black playwrights. One Play One Day is Project1VOICE's signature. It revives and reintroduces classic plays from the American theater canon that have been forgotten. Each year on the third Monday in June same day staged readings of the same play are presented, hence the name, One Play One Day. One Play One Day is now in its seventh consecutive year.

Also, during the same evening will be the 3rd annual Project1VOICE HONORS. Project1VOICE HONORS recognizes outstanding achievements in the American theatre. This year's recipients will be award-winning lighting designer Allen Lee Hughes, Broadway publicist and producer Irene Gandy and award-winning production designer Wynn Thomas. All three began their careers at the famed Negro Ensemble Company (NEC). Each will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. A special 50th anniversary tribute will honor the visionary co-founders of the NEC-Robert Hooks, Gerald Krone and Douglas Turner Ward.
