Project Creo Announces Classical Music Benefit Concert at Cary Hall, 7/18

Project Creo announces a Benefit Concert with Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf, cello and Stephen Gosling, piano on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 8:00 pm at DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Cary Hall 450 West 37th Street, New York City.  The concert will be produced by Michael Alden (aka Michael A. Alden).

Two superb New York City artists in concert to benefit Project Creo. In addition to music of Beethoven, Schumann, Debussy, Cassado, de Falla and Piazzolla, a multimedia presentation by Michael Sample, founder of Project Creo, precedes the hour-long concert. A wine reception with the artists follows.

A native of Scotland, Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf has given concerts as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Taiwan and the US. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, she completed the MMus and DMA programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, while also studying at International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove and the Steans Music Institute at Ravinia, Chicago. Since moving to New York City in 2002 she has focused her career primarily on the music of Broadway, collaborating regularly with premier composers, singers and arrangers. She has held chairs in nine Broadway shows, including LOVEMUSIK, SUNDAY IN THE PARK and a LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Other highlights include Sondheim's "Opening Doors" at Carnegie's Zankel Hall and "An evening of Sondheim" with Maria Friedman at the Cafe Carlyle. Ms. Dorman-Phaneuf has been heard live on WNYC and SiriusXM Stars and was featured performing with Sting, Chris Botti and Joshua Bell in the PBS broadcast of "Live from Lincoln Center: Joshua Bell with Friends @ the Penthouse". A member of the New York based groups, The Pit Stop Players and The Voice of the City Ensemble, she lives in New York City with her husband, saxophonist, Marc Phaneuf.

Pianist Stephen Gosling enjoys a varied career as soloist and chamber musician with a particular focus on the music of our time. He earned his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees at the Juilliard School, where he was awarded the Mennin Prize for Outstanding Excellence and Leadership in Music and the Sony Elevated Standards Fellowship, and was featured as concerto soloist an unprecedented four times. Mr. Gosling is a member of New York New Music Ensemble, Ensemble Sospeso, American Modern Ensemble, Orchestra of the League of Composers, and Ne(x)tworks. He has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Dutch Radio Philharmonic, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Bang on a Can, and Speculum Musicae, among many others. His work has garnered consistent critical acclaim, and he was profiled by the New York Times in October 2005.
