Hit Broadway musical edition of classic animated Disney movie musical BEAUTY & THE BEAST will start shooting a fresh live-action edition featuring classic Alan Menken and Howard Ashman songs from the film and the subsequent stage adaptation - which also boasts lyrics by Tim Rice - today according to a recent interview with producer Todd Lieberman.
Lieberman confirms the shoot date as well as additional details, relaying, "We're starting to shoot Beauty and the Beast for Disney and Allegiant on the same day, May 18th. Beauty and the Beast we're wildly excited about. That's shooting in London. We've got Emma Watson, we've got Bill Condon directing, and Stephen Chbosky wrote our script. It's really fun, and we couldn't be happier about that."
In addition to Emma Watson, the new BEAUTY & THE BEAST is also set to showcase stage and screen star Dan Stevens as The Beast, along with film star Luke Evans as Gaston.
Of note, rumored for Mrs. Potts is noted two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson while recognizable stage and screen star Timothy Spall has been tipped to be playing Maurice. No confirmation on either casting is available as of yet.
