The New York Post writes that John Kander and Fred Ebb's THE VISIT, which has been long-rumored for a Broadway run, is coming to the Great White Way this spring, starring Chita Rivera and Roger Rees.

Producer Tom Kirdahy, who also produced this season's hit IT'S ONLY A PLAY, told the Post the show is still in negotiations for a theater. "We're doing a photo shoot on Dec. 19 and then launching an ad campaign. I'm just waiting for the phone call to find out where we're going," he said.

THE VISIT recently played Williamstown Theatre Festival, featuring Broadway legend Rivera and Tony Award winner Rees, helmed by Tony Award-winning director John Doyle.

"I think 'The Visit' is the love child of 'Chicago' and 'Sweeney Todd,'" Kirdahy told the Post. "It has an astonishing score, a gripping story and a staggering performance by a Broadway legend."

In THE VISIT, Broadway legend Chita Rivera portrays Claire Zachanassian, an often-widowed millionairess who pays a visit to her hardship-stricken birthplace. The locals hope she'll bring them a new lease on life, but little do they know her offer to revitalize the town comes at a dreadful price.
