On June 12th at 6:30pm, Keylight Entertainment producer Nellie Bellflower will lead a seminar hosted by Algonquin Theater Productions discussing the many challenges and rewards of moving a stage property to film. At 6:30pm there will be a screening of her film "Finding Neverland", the 2004 classic directed by Marc Foster and featuring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, to be followed by a question and answer period. Miss Bellflower will discuss the entire process from soup to nuts starting with obtaining the rights for the play "The Man Who Was Peter Pan", written by Allan Knee. She will talk about casting, publicity, writing, rewriting, more rewriting, dealing with the studio, opening night, the reviews and attending the Academy Awards.
She, along with her Keylight partner Michael Mislove, will also be available to discuss transferring the 1938 novel "Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day" into the popular film featuring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams. Keylight Entertainment is currently working on several other projects for the stage and screen.
Since its inception in 2004, Algonquin Theater Productions has sought to move shows on to a higher level. Their first success was the critically acclaimed hit, The Devil and Billy Markham, but they have had numerous other triumphs for a young company, including a script optioned by HBO, shows performed in Indianapolis and Dallas, seventeen one acts chosen for the Samuel French Short Play Festival, (two published) and an original play presented at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. June 2007 marked the company's first Off Broadway production, Sessions, the musical.
Tickets to the evening are $25. To make reservations, or for any further information please call Algonquin Theater Productions at 212 730-4664.
