After more than two decades serving as President and General Counsel of Dramatists Play Service (DPS), Stephen Sultan is retiring in December. He will continue to serve in an advisory capacity as President Emeritus.

During his tenure the Play Service acquired over 1,000 new plays, including 16 Pulitzer Prize and 16 Tony Award winners. The Company, tripled its business, installed a state-of-the-art customized computer system, and prides itself on having the best website in the play licensing and publishing business.

Mr. Sultan said, "This is a business of choices and I have been fortunate in acquiring good plays over the years. Most rewarding has been my focus on new and promising young playwrights."

DPS was founded in 1936 by a number of prominent playwrights and theatre agents to foster opportunity and provide support for playwrights by publishing acting editions of their plays and handling the nonprofessional and professional leasing rights to these works.

DPS is the recipient of the Obie Award for Commitment to the Publication of New Work and Mr. Sultan will be one of the honorees at Primary Stages' annual Gala on November 11. For more information visit: www.dramatists.com.
