Twitter posts from London Daily Mail entertainment columnist Baz Bamigboye report that tonight's Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's performance of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has been cancelled due to a power outage.

The following message was posted on Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's website:

Despite our best efforts to rectify a power failure backstage, we had to take the difficult decision to cancel this evening's (Monday 18 July) performance of Jesus Christ Superstar. We ask that customers contact our box office tomorrow on boxoffice@openairtheatre.com with, if it is possible, dates when they may be able to return to see the production. We will then contact you to arrange a ticket exchange. Please note that previews are now sold out.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you may be able to return.

We would like to thank everyone who attended this evening for their patience whilst we tried to find a solution.

Celebrating 45 years since Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's seminal musical first hit the stage, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR returns to London in a powerful new production directed by Timothy Sheader. The production opened July 15th and runs through August 27th.

Singer-songwriter Declan Bennett, once a member of Brit Award nominated band Point Break, and more recently the lead in the musical ONCE, takes the role of Jesus.

With a legendary score including "I Don't Know How to Love Him," "Gethsemane" and "Superstar," and musical direction by Tom Deering and choreography by Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie, experience epic storytelling in the remarkable surroundings of Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.

Please note that latecomers will not be admitted until the interval. Also, should you need to leave the auditorium, re-admittance is not permitted during the performance. Visit openairtheatre.com.
