Pollini, Argerich and Zimerman were winners of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1960, 1965 and 1975, respectively. In these films by Ina and Unitel, Pollini plays two preludes, Argerich performs Chopin's "Piano Concerto No. 1" with the Orchestre Philharmonique de I'ORTF conducted by Franco Mannino, and Zimerman performs the four Ballades and Barcarolle. This film is part of the Great Pianists Play Chopin on Film series.
The performance is presented by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in association with the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Tickets: $15.
