Join us for an evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar, with Neilesh Bose (St. John's University) and Maha Chehlaoui (Noor Theatre), on Monday, April 13 at 6:30pm at The Segal Theatre, The Graduate Center CUNY.

After graduating from Brown University, Akhtar moved to Italy and studied acting with Jerzy Grotowski. He returned to the U.S. to teach acting classes with André Gregory and earn his Master of Arts in directing from Columbia University School of the Arts. His playwriting credits include Disgraced, which premiered at The American Theater Company in January 2012 and which was staged at LCT3/Lincoln Center in New York in October 2012, and won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. His first novel, American Dervish, was published by Little Brown Publishing in January 2012.

Neilesh Bose will provide a short introduction about the work of Ayad Akhtar. The playwright will read excerpts from The Invisible Hand, present an excerpted screening of his play Disgraced, followed by an excerpted reading of The Who and The What performed by Bernard White and Nadine Maalouf.

The evening will conclude with a panel discussion featuring Ayad Akhtar, Neilesh Bose, Maha Chehlaoui, Nadine Maalouf, and Bernard White. Moderated by Frank Hentschker.

With additional support from GC CUNY's Middle East and Middle Eastern American Center (MEMEAC).

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center is located at The Graduate Center, CUNY, 365 Fifth Avenue at 34th Street. For more about the Segal, visit www.theSegalCenter.org.
