U.S. Ambassador to Ireland, James C. Kenny and producers of the new musical, The Pirate Queen, Moya Doherty and John McColgan, will be honored at The American Ireland Fund 22nd Annual Chicago Dinner.
The event will be hosted by the Board of Directors of The American Ireland Fund at the Grand Ballroom of Four Seasons Hotel Chicago (120 East Delaware Place) on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Awards presentation begins at 8pm.
Ambassador Kenny, who has just returned home to Chicago, will be the honored guest at the event. He is being recognized for his service in promoting American relations with Ireland and for his role in Northern Ireland's peace process.
Moya doherty and John McColgan will receive the AIF's Performing Arts Award for their commitment to the arts and furthering Irish culture around the world. The spectacular new musical from the authors of Les Misérables and Miss Saigon, will begin previews on Broadway beginning March 2, 2007, opening April 5th, 2007 at the Hilton Theatre (214 West 43rd Street) on Broadway, following a World Premiere engagement in Chicago from October 3 through November 26, 2006. The cast of 40 is led by Stephanie J. Block (Grace O'Malley), Hadley Fraser (Tiernan), Linda Balgord (Queen Elizabeth I), Marcus Chait (Donal), Jeff McCarthy (Dubhdara) and William Youmans (Bingham).
