Pilobolus to Bring Mixed Repertory to Queens Theatre This Fall

Pilobolus and Queens Theatre have announced three upcoming performances of Pilobolus Mixed Repertory, November 4 and 5.

For 45 years, Pilobolus has tested the limits of human physicality to explore the beauty and the power of connected bodies. They bring this tradition to audiences across the globe through collaborations with influencers, thinkers, and creators in the world. Pilobolus Maximus takes the most diverse and impactful elements of Pilobolus - some old, and some brand new - and assembles them in a series of continually changing worlds. From the irreverence of a wild circus to the physical filigree of our most classical physical work, Maximus is not only the best of Pilobolus but the most revealing of how diverse and surprising Pilobolus's work can be.

The diverse program in Queens will consist of On The Nature of Things, created in 2014, The Inconsistent Pedaler, also created in 2014, and very recent works, Echo In The Valley, created in collaboration with Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn which premiered this past summer at The American Dance Festival in Durham, and Branches, also created in 2017, which premiered at Jacob's Pillow in July.

Beyond the limits of dance, Pilobolus has created and toured over 120 pieces of repertory to more than 65 countries, and performed for over 300,000 people each year. Recently Pilobolus was featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, NBC's TODAY Show , MTV's Video Music Awards , The Harry Connick Show, ABC's The Chew, and the CW Network's Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Pilobolus has been recognized with many prestigious honors, including a TED Fellowship, a 2012 Grammy Award Nomination, a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cultural Programming, and several Cannes Lion Awards at the International Festival of Creativity. In 2015, Pilobolus was named one of Dance Heritage Coalition's "Irreplaceable Dance Treasures".

In Queens, the program will be performed by Pilobolus dancers Nathaniel Buchsbaum, Krystal Butler, IsaBella Diaz, Zachary Eisenstat, Heather Jeane Favretto, Nile H. Russell and Jacob Michael Warren.

The Pilobolus creative team consists of Charter Artistic Directors Robby Barnett and Michael Tracy, Executive Producer Itamar Kubovy, Co-Artistic Directors Renée Jaworski and Matt Kent and Creative Director Mark Fucik.
