Piers Morgan, whose show "Piers Morgan Tonight" debuts tonight in the time slot previously occupied by the legendary Larry King, has discussed what he ideally plans to do with the show with the New York Post. This included Katie Holmes, star of the miniseries "The Kennedys", a Twitter-themed show starring Twitter's founder Jack Dorsey and gossip columnist Perez Hilton, and the reality TV star Kardashian sisters.
Producers of the new show are also, however, in talks to have the creators of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark on for an episode, such as director Julie Taymor and songwriters Bono and the Edge.
If "Piers Morgan Tonight" does score the SPIDER-MAN episode, he won't be going in improvising. Morgan says that "One difference between me and Larry is, Larry has prided himself for years on winging it in interviews. It worked brilliantly for him. I'm a very different type of interviewer."
SPIDER-MAN Turn Off the Dark has been the center of many controversies since it began previews in November, including the widely publicized injury of aerialist Christopher Tierney and multiple delayed opening nights. (The current opening night is set for March 15, with previews running at the Foxwoods Theatre until that time).
Featuring direction by Tony® Award-winner Julie Taymor (The Tempest, Across The Universe, The Lion King), music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge, a book co-written by Taymor and Glen Berger (Underneath The Lintel) and one of the most iconic title characters of all time, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is the most ambitious production ever undertaken on Broadway and finds fresh ways to tell a story inspired by over 40 years of Marvel comic books. The show follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down when he's bitten by a genetically altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to his bedroom ceiling. This bullied science-geek suddenly endowed with incredible powers soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility as villains put both his physical strength and strength of character to the test. SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark aims to thrill audiences through a unique entertainment experience in ways never-before-dreamed-possible in live theater.
