Bundle up for a salute to summer in San Francisco with PianoFight's resident sketch comedy group, Chardonnay. Fresh off their first-place win in ShortLived (PianoFight's audience-judged short play competition), they are bringing the heat (read: fart jokes) with brand new sketches in "Summer in the City" running July 9-18, 2015 (Thur-Sat at 8pm) at PianoFight (144 Taylor St., San Francisco). Tickets are $20 General Admission or $30 VIP and can be purchased at www.pianofight.com.
"Summer in the City" takes you through summer adventures in the Bay Area, including a good ol' fashioned uncomfortable family road trip, a camp for tech addicts and the high-stakes preparations for a high-society orgy. Then you'll want to throw on your bathing suits and earmuffs as we cannonball into the deep end with "Taken 4: The Gender Wage Gap" (this time it takes a woman to do Liam Neeson's job), a guide on how to perfect the "it" body part for 2015 (move over, booty) and a rap battle over artisanal ice cream.
As part of their mission to provide a platform for female artists, Chardonnay will showcase the best local stand-up comedians each night. "Summer in the City" is written, directed and produced by Kate Jones, Jessica Mele, Emma Rose Shelton, Rachel Rockwood, Leah Shesky, Meredith Terry and Sarah Wright-Schreiberg with the addition of production manager/guest director Sara Staley, guest directors Jena McRae and Jessica Risco, and James Snell, our man-génue (token male actor). Visit www.pianofight.com or chardonnaycomedy.com for more information.
Chardonnay is a San Francisco-based female-driven sketch comedy group that's been winning over audiences with its variety-show sensibility, biting wit, and smooth, unoaked finish since forming under the moniker Monday Night ForePlays in 2009.
