New York-based Uruguayan-American pianist Polly Ferman will be in concert, presenting Habaneras, Milongas, Tangos on Tuesday, September 19 @ 7:00 PM at Marc A. Scorca Hall of National Opera Center, 330 7th Avenue, 8th Floor in New York, NY.

This will be a multimedia solo piano recital, with commentary, showcasing Tango from its African roots to the New Tango. Projections, film and music will take the audience on a journey through Tango's history before, during and after the emergence of the well-known Tango for dancing. It will also show how difficult it was for women to enter this Rio de la Plata (Argentina and Uruguay) city-style world.

Repertoire will include works by Louis M. Gottschalk, Emmanuel Chabrier, Isaac Albeniz, Luis C. Mortet, Luis Mattos Rodriguez, Ernesto Nazareth, Alberto Ginastera, Pintin Castellanos, Anibal Troilo, Astor Piazzolla and Daniel Binelli.

Polly Ferman says about the performance, "I would like to share with you my excitement about the upcoming performance of my Habaneras, Milongas Tangos program, in honor of the tango classic La Cumparsita's 100 anniversary. I've already performed the program in Montevideo, at the same Sala Verdi I had my piano debut at 7, in Buenos Aires and am truly looking forward to the event in New York City."

Tickets are $20, available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2921318.
