Photosmith for iPad Receives Top Photo App Honors from TIPA Image

Atlanta, Georgia

C Squared Enterprises today announced Photosmith for iPad has received the Best Mobile Photo App award from the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA).

"As photographers ourselves, it is a great honor to be recognized by international professionals who value innovation," said Chris Horne, co-developer of Photosmith. "We are thrilled to join the company of Canon, Sony, Nikon, Manfrotto, Olympus and others recognized as the best photo and imaging products."

The TIPA Awards are renowned as the most influential photo and imaging product awards in markets around the world. TIPA's members represent 28 leading photo and imaging magazines from 15 countries on five continents, and also has a cooperative partnership with the Camera Journal Press Club, representing 11 top photography magazines in Japan.

To celebrate and enable even more photographers and creative professionals to join the company's fast-growing user community, Photosmith is conducting a limited-time price reduction of its revolutionary photography app for iPad. Photosmith can now be purchased for only $9.99 USD (or equivalent local currency). This is half-off Photosmith's regular price.

Photosmith is the only iOS app that synchronizes photos and IPTC metadata like keywords and star ratings with Adobe's Lightroom software for Mac/PC through a local Wi-Fi connection - sync occurs directly between Lightroom on the Mac/PC and iPad. This is important because photos synced through local W-Fi transfer much faster than cloud-based services. Local sync also doesn't require an Internet connection. With local sync, your photos, keywords and other IPTC metadata remains safely stored on your devices, and never transferred over the public Internet for storage on a remote server.

Photosmith recently added best-in-class support for full-resolution rendering of camera raw files. This native camera raw rendering unlocks the raw formats of over 500 camera models, including many unreadable by Apple's iOS, including Leica's DNG and FujiFilm's RAF formats.

"We want more people to realize what the imaging professionals at TIPA, as well as the casual enthusiast have come to recognize - Photosmith can really transform their digital photography workflow," said Horne. "This limited-time discount is the same price as one month of other Lightroom sync products for iOS - but Photosmith doesn't require an ongoing subscription fee."

Background

Photosmith is the culmination of countless nights and weekends, developing an app by a very small team of avid photographers and software engineers. "We created the iPad app we wish existed - something that complements the power of managing digital assets in Lightroom, with the portability of Apple's iPad," said Chris Morse, co-developer. "We're unique in that Photosmith was created and is maintained by photographers, for photographers."

Photosmith's core feature set includes:

Synchronization of both photos and IPTC metadata, including keywords, between Lightroom and iPad;
No monthly subscription costs or fees;
Sync occurs directly between Lightroom and iPad, and Internet connectivity is never required, nor are photos or metadata ever stored in the cloud;
Fastest camera raw rendering currently available for iPad, over 500 camera models supported, with more added each app update;
Automatic groupings of similar photos with Smart Groups (patent pending) for very quick tagging;
Touch-optimized assigning of keywords;
Apply IPTC metadata to photos individually, in groups, or with user-defined presets;
Sort and filter your photos by flags, stars, colors or dates;
Share highlights and selections to Facebook, Flickr, Dropbox and email;

Import photos wirelessly via Eye-Fi and FTP;

Very robust and configurable Lightroom sync options, accommodating for many workflows.

Testimonials

C Squared released Photosmith Version 3 in April, 2013 to universally positive reviews, both in Apple's App Store and in the tech media. Below is a very brief roundup of what tech leaders are saying about Photosmith's ground-breaking photography workflow solutions:

Charlie Sorrel of the popular blog "Cult of Mac" said in a recent review, "The interface actually makes [adding keyword tags] easier to do in Photosmith than in Lightroom. You can quickly create new tags, make trees or hierarchical [keyword] tags and apply tags to multiple photos at once."

On "iPad Today", Leo Laporte said, "Photosmith lets you do a lot of the things [that] I think are the most desirable for Lightroom on the iPad."

Matt Kloskowski, on Scott Kelby's "The Grid" podcast, said, "Photosmith is a solid app. If you're in that market, and if you think the iPad fits in [your workflow] ... Photosmith totally rocks."
