Zachary Levi, star of TV's "Chuck," Disney's feature film Tangled and the upcoming Thor: The Dark World, will make his Broadway debut starring opposite Broadway and television ingénue Krysta Rodriguez("Smash," The Addams Family) in First Date, Broadway's new romantic musicalcomedy. With a book by Austin Winsberg ("Gossip Girl"), music and lyrics byAlan Zachary and Michael Weiner (Secondhand Lions, Twice Charmed) and musical staging by Josh Rhodes (Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella) First Dateis directed by Bill Berry (Producing Director of The 5th Avenue Theatre). Featuring Sara Chase ("Arrested Development," The Toxic Avenger), Kristoffer Cusick(Wicked, Rent), Blake Hammond (Sister Act, Billy Elliot) and Kate Loprest("Boardwalk Empire," Hairspray), the cast of First Date also includes Vicki Noon(Wicked, Mamma Mia!).First Date begins performances Tuesday, July 9, 2013, and opens Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). Zachary Levi (Aaron). Zachary Levi was last seen on NBC's hit show "Chuck." Levi portrayed a regular guy whose life gets scrambled when he inadvertently has government secrets downloaded into his brain while reading an email sent from a long lost friend. "Chuck" has been a media and fan favorite since its fall 2007 release and continues its popularity even after the series finale.
Fans will be thrilled to see Levi in the 2013 release of the Marvel filmThor 2 in the role of Fandral the Dashing. The film is set for a holiday release. Levi also recently appeared in feature films as the lead role opposite MAndy Moore in Disney's twist on its classic Rapunzel, entitledTangled. The Oscar-nominated film was a huge success at the box office and in DVD release. Additionally, Levi appeared in the 20th Century Fox film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel which broke box office records in its Christmas 2009 release. Levi was also seen starring with Amber Tamblyn in the independent feature film Spiral and in the franchise film Big Momma's House 2 with Martin Lawrence.
Krysta Rodriguez (Casey) most recently appeared on Broadway originating the role of Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family alongside Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. She also was in the original Broadway casts of In the Heights, Spring Awakening and Good Vibrations, as well as playing Bebe in the revival of A Chorus Line. She can currently be seen as Ana Vargas on the NBC show "Smash."
