Investigating the natural world has always defined Pam Grafstein's character. Over the years, she grew to love any activities that brought her outdoors and into the woods. She learned to appreciate the environment and the creatures that live within it.
When she started her career as a middle school Life Science teacher some 18 years ago, Pam purchased her first "real" camera. She learned what she could from basic photography courses and photography books, and began her quest to capture the powerful imagery which Nature bestows.
Her creative purpose is to effectively merge the worlds of Natural Science and Art, but in the absence of natural elements, she is impelled to be resourceful, creating interesting images using commonplace objects and playthings.
Pam resides in Congers, NY with her husband and two children.
"I have always found enjoyment in discovering the beauty of the "little things" in life. My favorite source of inspiration is Nature itself, but I am also fascinated by the elements of familiar objects. Early on, I learned the value of patient observation - if you look carefully enough, fascinating scenes can be found in what at first glance appears ordinary. With my camera as my companion, I strive to create compelling images that capture the personality of details from an unusual perspective."
