This year, Mike Ruiz is celebrating his 48th birthday and promises that it will be bigger and better than ever! The birthday will serve as a fundraising opportunity to benefit The Ali Forney Center, an organization that shelters homeless LGBT youth. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy's destruction, the organization's main drop-in center was flooded and rendered uninhabitable. Therefore, Mike is redoubling his efforts to help AFC get back on its feet. He urges fans, friends, and family to donate generously. Ruiz's goal this year is to raise $15,000 on behalf of the homeless LGBT youth cause. The event will take place tonight, December 7th at XL Nightclub.
The night will be full of dance, humor, and good cheer. Artists will include DJ's Whitney Day and Bill Coleman. Performances by Martha Walsh, The Ones, Janice Robinson and Jason Walker will be sure to get guest's dance on. Special guest, Carmen Elektra, will also debut her new smash hit single, "I Like It Loud."
The Ali Forney Center (AFC) helps make a difference in the lives of homeless LGBT youth by rescuing them from the dangers of the streets and placing them into safe, homelike environments. AFC is working hard to provide youth with the support and nourishment they need to succeed and thrive. AFC strives to help and support the broader community to make NYC a safer place for homeless LGBT youth.
