Tony Award nominee Kathleen Chalfant will star as Miss Havisham in the world premiere stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, presented by TheatreworksUSA. The show will run November 8th through December 3rd, 2006 at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St.), with opening night set for November 16th.

Great Expectations "follows a young orphan boy through adulthood, navigating London's society circles and his relationships with a wealthy woman and her haughty adopted daughter," according to TheatreworksUSA notes. Directed by Will Pomerantz (Godot Has Left the Building), the show is adapted for the stage by Bathsheba Doran (Living Room in Africa), with incidental music by independent film composer Michael Picton.

Chalfant received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. She has also been seen on Broadway in M. Butterfly, Angels in America: Perestroika and Racing Demon. Off-Broadway credits include Wit, Five by Tenn, Talking Heads and Guantanamo: Honor Bound to Defend Freedom.
