"Recipe For Life" benefiting The Honorable Tina Brozman Foundation at The Players on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 beginning at 6PM. The fourth installment of Cause Célèbre will feature appearances by Richard Easton, Rue McClanahan, and Frances Sternhagen performing a series of readings, performances and original works by Susan Charlotte, Margaret Edson, A.R. Gurney and Neil & Danny Simon and Joseph Stein. The evening will be directed by Antony Marsellis and Christopher Hart.
The Honorable Tina Brozman Foundation (known as "Tina's Wish") is named for Tina Brozman, an amazing woman who became a judge at 32 years old. She was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer at age 52 and died at age 54, one year ago. Her husband, Andrew Brozman, started the foundation in her name.
It is well known among her family and colleagues that Tina was a sophisticated and generous cook. When she was diagnosed she began writing a cookbook for her children, hence the title, "Recipe For Life". This Cause Célèbre will be related to the battle against ovarian cancer. However, the plays will be related to food and restaurants which are thought provocative and lighter fare. They include A.R. Gurney's The Dining Room, Neil & Danny Simon and Joseph Stein in the collaboration of Tallulah Finds Her Kitchen, and an original work by Susan Charlotte entitled, The Laziest of Simmers which was inspired by Tina. An excerpt from the Pulitzer Prize winning play WIT by Margaret Edson will also be presented. Throughout the evening letters written to Tina's family after she died will be read by the actors, highlighting her life, her family and the importance of this foundation.
