Six time Tony Award-winning hit Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn will be at the Westchester Broadway Theatre (WBT) in Elmsford from February 2nd-26th. In this special Black History Month production, a vibrant cast tells the story of Mark Twain's classic novel, one of our nation's greatest pieces of literature, re-imagined with powerful dialogue and heartfelt song featuring music and lyrics by Roger Miller.
Big River sweeps the audience down the mighty Mississippi as the courageous Huck Finn, played by Anthony Malchar, frees a salve named Jim, played by FaTye, and the two develop a relationship that transcends the prejudice of their time. The show, directed by John Fanelli, brings the timeless themes of diversity, acceptance, respect and freedom front and center in this inaugural Black History Month production at the WBT.
This powerful production will run throughout the month of February with a schedule of performances intended to accommodate student groups and additional programs that teach important lessons of diversity and acceptance.
The Westchester Broadway Theatre is the longest-running, year-round Equity theatre in the State of New York, with a 37-year history of nearly 200 main-stage productions. All productions at the WBT include a full, sit-down meal.
