Vanessa Long Dance Company is proud to present to you the release of a new piece of emotional dance theatre; 'Green Apples'. The company states "We believe that in order to see change in our world, we need to encourage conversations. Our pieces are highly theatrical and all tell a story that illustrates the problem set before us."
"Green Apples" focuses on the emotional distress of being forced to leave your country of origin for a better life in a new and unfamiliar country. This piece follows the path of a young woman living in a war torn country, packing to leave her home and to make a break to escape to a new country. The piece follows the music closely and utilizes facial expressions and body language to push the story forward. We explore the emotional struggle through each part of the journey and the hope for a better life. We also take a look at the perception and stereotypes those experience once arriving in a new country. The pain this causes emotionally and psychologically. The movement is based in contemporary dance with pops of theatre focus is placed on body language to explore an issue which is gripping the world.
