The Vanessa Long Dance Company is pleased to announce the beginning of their 2018-2019 season. This season they will be premiering two new works that will be joining the VLDC repertory.
The first piece is entitled "It's Like Anything Else" choreographed by Vanessa Long. This pieces movement explores literal interpretation mixed with mechanical contemporary movements. It explore the decline of factory jobs in rural America and the effects on those who's jobs have been lost. The second piece to be premiered this season is "Lust in Translation" choreographed by Zoë Reed Helm. This piece is a contemporary dance piece with hip hop elements. It explores the breakdown in communication between men and women and the dissatisfaction and frustration that results when women's voices are not valued as they should be.
The VLDC will be starting their performances with a premier of both " It's Like Anything Else" and "Lust in Translation" at the VLDC Gala to celebrate their four year anniversary. The VLDC Gala will be December 1st at 9PM at the Triad Theater.
