Photo Flash: The Rockettes Kick Off 2015 Radio City Holiday Season with CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST

CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST, the official kick-off to the 2015 Radio City Christmas Spectacular holiday season, was held today, August 13, in New York City. Featuring Santa Claus and the Rockettes, the event stopped traffic on 6th avenue in front of Radio City Music Hall, while the iconic dancers brought to life the wooden soldiers and rag dolls from Santa's enchanted workshop in the North Pole. The day began when Santa Claus made his yearly trip from the North Pole to Radio City Music Hall, his home away from home for the holiday season. The Rockettes joined Santa and showcased their renowned precision technique with a presentation of the iconic number "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers." The Rockettes then took over 6th avenue and brought the classic "Rag Dolls" scene to life with a performance from the number, which originally debuted in 1940 and was re-imagined for the 2014 production. Santa was joined by 95.5 PLJ on-air host John Foxx to kick off the festivities.

The Rockettes are a legendary dance company and have been a part of the fabric of New York City for more than 85 years. Since their debut in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in 1933, the Rockettes have danced into the hearts of millions, spreading Christmas cheer to people of all ages and becoming a family tradition for generations.
