My Fair Lady at the John W. Engeman Theater at Northport OPENING NIGHT - SEPTEMBER 16, 2010. Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical
This musical interpretation of George Bernard Shaw's classic Pygmalion revolves around the uneducated Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl with a dreadful English accent. Eliza becomes the center of a bet between the worldly linguist, Colonel Pickering, and the self-absorbed phoneticist, Mr. Henry Higgins. Pickering wagers that Higgins cannot make good on a claim to teach Eliza to speak and act like a proper lady. With that, an intensive make over of Eliza's speech, manners and dress begins in preparation for a final test in which she is required to pass as a lady at the Embassy Ball. It is an unlikely love story featuring such classic songs as Wouldn't It be Loverly, I Could Have Danced All Night, The Rain In Spain, and On The Street Where You Live.
MY FAIR LADY will play the following performance schedule September 16 to October 31, 2010: Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 3:00 p.m., Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
