The Broadway Musicals of 1956, the latest edition of the "Broadway by the Year" series, directed by Tony-nominee Emily Skinner, took place at Town Hall (123 W. 43rd St.) on Monday, April 3rd. A celebration followed at Tony DiNapoli's Restaurant in Times Square.
The show featured Christine Andreas (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Oklahoma!), Brent Barrett (Chicago, Grand Hotel), Marc Kudisch (See What I Wanna See, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Ashley Brown (Beauty and the Beast), John Treacy Egan (The Producers), Rachelle Rak (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), cabaret singers Brandon Cutrell and Connie Pachl, and Skinner (The Full Monty, Side Show) herself. The stars performed songs from shows such as
The Most Happy Fella, Li'l Abner, and Mr. Wonderful. Scott Siegel, the creator of "Broadway by the Year," wrote and hosted the show.
