Now in its fourth year, Circle in the Square Theatre School's innovative Teens on Broadway program has convened and celebrated the community of students, teachers and administrators at NYC public performing arts high schools and given them access to get onstage, to learn about the industry and jobs they could one day have as part of the Broadway industry. 18 schools have already participated.

On Monday evening at Circle in the Square, Book of Mormon cast member and Theatre School alumni Christian Dante White joined School director E. Colin O'Leary and director of Teens on Broadway Jonathan Mann in welcoming and inspiring the 70 students, who represented 5 public high schools from 4 NYC boroughs, including Humanities and the Arts High School (Brooklyn), Gotham Professional Arts Academy (Queens), Talent Unlimited High School (Manhattan), Urban Assembly School of the Performing Arts (Manhattan) and Susan E. Wagner High School (Staten Island).

With great energy and budding talent the students presented excerpts of their best works of the year. That included scenes from The Importance of Being Earnest, Top Dog/Underdog and Legally Blonde, Hamlet, The Misanthrope and other theatrical works. Each school's theater director introduced the philosophy and curriculum of their program and what the audience was about to see.

Crystal Chase (of AKA), who along with Jim Glaub (Serino Coyne) , Hugh Hysell (Groupon) and Kinsley Suer (SpotCo) served as a Broadway marketing advisors to Teens on Broadway's Social Media team this year, took to the stage and encouraged students to broaden their networks, to interact with and learn more about the industry and to promote their school productions to peers across the City via social media.

Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer's chief of staff Jessica Mates shared the Borough President's enthusiasm for Teens on Broadway, saying "Teens on Broadway is a phenomenal program."

"Monday evening was wonderful- I am so happy that our students were included in such a great event!" said Principal Meghan McMahon, Urban Assembly School of the Performing Arts.

Diane Zerega, Theater Director, Susan E. Wagner High School commented, "Our experience with Teens on Broadway was outstanding...so professional and fun for all. Thank you again for inviting us to be part of it!"

And Circle in the Square Theatre School Board President Paul Libin said, "With Teens on Broadway we celebrate achievements and encourage the desire of talented New York teens who dream of a career in the theater. We also support and acknowledge the many pre-professional public high school programs across the City that nurture new generations of theater-makers and theater-lovers."
