Taye Diggs was the 2014 Skin Cancer Foundation Gala's Master of Ceremonies. Sting kicked off the event, performing three songs -- "Every Breath You Take," "The Night the Pugilist Learned How To Dance," from his new Broadway musical The Last Ship which opens October 26 at the Neil Simon Theatre, and "Message in a Bottle." Later in the evening, there was a stunning performance by Grammy Award-Winning Violinist Joshua Bell, accompanied by Pianist Alessio Bax. Scroll down for photos!
Hundreds of guests representing the medical, entertainment, beauty, retail, publishing and pharmaceutical industries gathered at The Mandarin Oriental New York on Tuesday, October 21 for the 2014 Skin Cancer Foundation Gala.
The Skin Cancer Foundation Gala is an annual event where Skin Sense Awards are given in recognition of exceptional achievement in skin health, including public education about sun protection and skin cancer prevention. This year's Skin Sense Award Honorees are Olay and Time Inc. Lela Coffey, Brand Director, North America Olay, and PEOPLE Magazine Publisher Karen Kovacs accepted these awards, respectively.
There were several other notable guests in attendance including Actress Katie Holmes, Actor Tony Sirico (The Sopranos) and Weather Anchor Ginger Zee (Good Morning America).
The 2014 Skin Cancer Foundation Media Award was also presented during the evening's program. The Award recognizes excellence in skin cancer editorial coverage that furthers the Foundation's mission. Glamour magazine was named the 2014 Skin Cancer Foundation Media Award winner.
