Tonight, November 15, 2014 at 7:30pm, for one night only, Canadian rising star Vanessa Smythe offers her original "must-see" sold-out show (NOW Magazine) IN CASE WE DISAPPEAR to Theatre ROW, 410 West 42nd Street, New York, as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival. Scroll down for photos!

Combining spoken-word poetry, rhythm, and a capella melodies, IN CASE WE DISAPPEAR is inspired by the people and moments that disappear from our lives. Emerging out of a ritual between her and her little brother - "We used to tell each other all our embarrassing and kooky stories, in case we'd disappeared by morning" - Smythe's hilarious and bittersweet stories have been likened to a one-woman Flight of the Conchords. Smythe "tangles deliriously intelligent insights into love and all things personal...and invents new ways of giving over a beautifully woven monologue and a masterfully enchanting story" (Newborn Theatre). With pieces ranging from accidentally booty-calling her ex, to struggling to hug her sibling at his graduation, Smythe has a "genuine gift for poetic narrative". Deeply honest, playful, and beautifully unique.

IN CASE WE DISAPPEAR originated at an emerging artist cabaret at Toronto's legendary Theatre Passe Muraille. The full show was then invited to be part of the inaugural Crow's Theatre East End Performance Crawl, produced by Siminovitch Prize-winner Chris Abraham, where it played to sold-out houses to critical and popular acclaim.

A "charming, spontaneous performer with a big grin and restless energy", Smythe has also worked with Woody Harrelson, Julianne Moore and Kimberley Peirce in Theatre and Film. Catch her "warmly captivating show" and be reminded of what we need to say to each other -- before we disappear.
