Tony-nominated stage and screen actress Sandy Duncan (Chicago, Peter Pan) is 'coaxing the blues right out of the horn,' as she makes her Barrington Stage debut as the glamorous title character of Jerry Herman's Mame, which is being presented in a semi-staged concert version directed by BSC artistic director Julianne Boyd. BSC's first fall production in its new home in Pittsfield, at 30 Union Street, Mame will run for two weeks from October 4 through 15.
"Mame, based on the best-selling novel by Patrick Dennis and the Lawrence and Lee play, Auntie Mame, follows the madcap adventures of the eccentric, life-affirming Mame Dennis bringing up her orphaned nephew, Patrick, to live life as a banquet. Herman's award-winning score contains the standards 'We Need a Little Christmas,' 'If He Walked into My Life,' 'Bosom Buddies,' and, of course, the rousing title song," state BSC notes.
The production also stars Diane J. Findlay as Vera Charles, Mark Jacoby as Beauregard Jackson Pickett Burnside, Joyce Chittick as Agnes Gooch, Johnny Shaffer as Young Patrick, Grant Chang as Ito, Ariana Balayan, Daniel Cohen, Maria Couch, Jack Doyle, Patti Perkins, Megan Rozak, and Jeremy Scott.
Tickets are on sale now by calling 413-236-8888 or online at www.barringtonstageco.org.
